Life Care Centers of America’s Whatever It Takes And Then Some program honors associates who go beyond their job descriptions in caring for residents, their families and fellow associates. Here are three of the inspiring stories from our December 2017 winners:
Nancy Moffatt, restorative certified nursing assistant at Rivergate Health Care Center in Riverview, Michigan, used her talents to make a resident happy. When a resident noticed another resident’s side pouch on her wheelchair, she told Moffatt she would really like one just like it. Moffatt asked the other resident where she had gotten it, but the resident didn’t remember. Moffatt looked through several different stores, and when she couldn’t find a pouch like the resident wanted, she made one herself and gave it to her.
Joyce Jones, certified nursing assistant at Life Care Center of Haltom, Texas, bought Christmas hats for her fellow associates and for the residents to wear throughout the season, which added to the Christmas cheer. “She is a great team player and is always willing to help residents who are not even a part of her daily assignment,” read her nomination.
Tonya McComas, MDS coordinator at Life Care Center of Ocala, Florida, knew that a resident wanted to attend the Resident Christmas Party but didn’t have nice clothes. McComas went out and bought a new outfit for the resident and helped her change into the new clothes for the party.
