Rivergate Health Care Center and Rivergate Terrace, which together make up the Rivergate Complex in Riverview, Michigan, participated in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Detroit.

With the walk only two weeks away, Amelia Jones, executive director at Rivergate Terrace, put together a team.

“Our staff was so excited!” said Jones.

The facilities held a craft show, bake sale and had associates pay for chances to win prizes. They put donors’ names up in the lobby and had a box for associates and guests to donate loose change. Associates also donated on the team page online.

The team raised $2,500 to aid in research, treatment and support for Alzheimer’s.

Associates and their families, as well as families of residents, attended the walk on Aug. 24, 2019.

“We had a lot of exciting communication about the event, which created staff engagement,” said Jones. “Now we are committed to up our game for the upcoming year.”
